Kewalo Pipe
Depth: 32 - 65 Feet / 10 - 20 Meters
Skill Level: Beginner / Intermediate
Kewalo Pipe, and old storm drain pipe (not a sewer pipe as some would have you believe) that is no longer in use runs from shore to a depth of 65 feet. Though the pipe is large enough to crawl inside, we recommend that you don't. It is dark, and there isn't room to turn around. On the pipe itself you will find lots of coral growth which eels, frog fish, crabs and more call home. Though some have called this sight just average, we disagree. The coral growth found at the end of the pipe is some of the healthiest on Oahu and is home to thousands of creatures. Additionally its close proximity to Horseshoe Reef and Ewa Reef make it a great location for squeezing two sites into one. Turtles, large eels, frog fish, rays, octopus, pom pom crabs, sharks, horned cow fish and more have been seen at this site, making it one of the better shallow sites in our opinion. The trick is to venture out and not just stay on the pipe as most companies do.
