1. How Long Does The Scuba Certification Course Last? Scuba certification is performance based, meaning there is no set amount of hours required for completion. You move from one level to the next during the scuba course at your own pace. You will find that most PADI scuba certification courses advertised are based around an estimated 3 day time frame for completion. For the average person, however, this may not be enough time. 4 days for scuba certification is a much more realistic goal. - We at Reef Pirates Diving strongly suggest enrolling in our scuba certification course prior to coming to the island. Upon enrollment, we will send out a package to you including study material, course text book, etc.. Reading the text book and completing the knowledge reviews for each chapter prior to arrival, insures your not spending any of your vacation in your room studying. Our PADI Open Water Oahu Scuba Diving courses take 3 days to complete. Days last 4-5 hours each and we can schedule our scuba courses to accommodate your busy schedule. Come see what Oahu scuba diving is all about with Reef Pirates Diving.
2. How Much Does The Scuba Certification Course Cost? Low ball prices are designed for 2 reasons. To attract your attention, and to get you in the door. The hidden charges for the course, such as books and equipment rental, are conveniently never advertised. Look for an all inclusive scuba certification course experience. Remember, in the end, you always get what you pay for. - Reef Pirates Diving does not low ball our prices. We include all scuba certification course material in our prices, as well as all gear needed to complete your Oahu scuba diving courses. Their are NO hidden charges! Additionally we keep our scuba class sizes small to ensure students get the best instruction possible. Most companies will have class sizes of 10 or more per instructor, we limit our class sizes to 4 people! (Groups of 5 or more can be accommodated by request.) Choose Reef Pirates Diving for a truely amazing Oahu scuba diving experience.
3. Are References Available From The Most Recent Students? Always ask for phone or E-mail references from the most recent scuba certification students who have just completed the course. Don't settle for written quotes that are years old and taken from some database of generic customer comments. If a lame excuse or noncommittal answer is given, take your business elsewhere. A quality dive operation that has nothing to hide will be happy to provide such references. - Reef Pirates Diving prides itself on being a more personal dive company. We would be glad to share all feedback we have received regarding our certification programs. Make your Oahu scuba diving adventure something special, let Reef Pirates Diving put together a certification program for you.
4. Who Is The Scuba Instructor? Sean Deming - PADI Instructor / EFR Instructor - Sean holds several ratings with PADI, the largest scuba certification agency in the world. In addition to being a PADI Instructor and First Aid / CPR Instructor, Sean holds several speciality ratings including Night diver, Wreck diver, Deep diver, Underwater video, Underwater photography, and several others. Interested in getting certified? The warm clear waters of Oahu provide a great underwater classroom for learning how to scuba dive. Dive Oahu with Reef Pirates Diving.
5. How Long Have They Been A Scuba Instructor? Sean has been diving for over 16 years throughout North America, and been instructing here on Oahu for the last two years. Let Sean show you an unforgetable Oahu scuba diving experience.
6. How Many People Have They Certified? Some Oahu scuba diving companies will boast huge certification numbers like it's a good thing. We at Reef Pirates Diving believe Quality should outweigh Quantity. We could have class sizes of 10 or more, but we don't. We believe in quality scuba instruction. We keep scuba class sizes to 4 or less. This allows us to spend more time working with each student. In short, our instructor certifies between 60 and 100 people a year.
To help you comparison shop, we've compiled a list of questions any potential scuba certification student should ask before getting certified. There are a number of different scuba training organizations that a dive company can be affiliated with. Reef Pirates Diving scuba certifications are all done through PADI (The world leader in diver education) and therefore are recognized and accepted worldwide.
7. How Many Scuba Certification Courses Have They Taught? Good scuba instructors, who have an extensive resume of experience teaching scuba certification courses, are extremely hard to find. Oahu scuba diving shops have a notoriously high turnover ratio of scuba instructors to staff. Many of the ones who are there are recent hires, and have very little Oahu scuba diving experience. They also work long hours for very little money, generally getting paid by the activity, not by the hour. Insist on someone who has certified at least 25 people, and has been teaching a minimum of one year. - Unlike most Oahu scuba diving companies, our instructor is also an owner of Reef Pirates Diving and has a vested interest in providing the best Oahu scuba diving experience possible. We don't leave our instruction up to others, we take it upon ourselves. Sean certifies between 40 and 60 people a year at various levels. Let Reef Pirates Diving put together an Oahu scuba diving certification package based on your schedule and diving needs.
8. Is The Scuba Instructor First Aid / CPR Certified? In order to become a PADI Scuba instructor, one must complete the Rescue Diver certification. PADI requires current CPR/First Aid training for one to receive Rescue Diver certification. Most scuba instructors are also First Aid/CPR Instructors. - Our instructor is not only First Aid / CPR Certified, he is a First Aid / CPR Instructor. In addition to teaching First Aid / CPR, he also teaches Child Infant Care and A.E.D. Alot of Oahu scuba diving shops will have you obtain the CPR and First Aid certifications through outside agencies. We at Reef Pirates Diving offer in house First Aid and CPR certifications. We'll even come to you. Choose Reef Pirates Diving for all your Oahu scuba diving needs.
9. Can I Get A Student Discount After Getting Certified? Any reputable dive operation should give you a generous student discount towards future diving activities and/or scuba equipment purchases you make from them, in appreciation for taking their scuba certification course. - Reef Pirates Diving offers a lifetime 10% discount for all people completing one of our Oahu scuba diving certification or continuing scuba education courses. Choose Reef Pirates Diving for all your Oahu scuba diving needs.
