San Pedro Shipwreck
Depth:  60 - 80 Feet / 18 - 25 Meters
Skill Level:
Intermediate / Advanced

The San Pedro shipwreck, like the Seatiger and YO-257 shipwrecks, were sunk by the submarine tour companies during the 90's so they would have something to look at during their underwater tours.  Fortunately for all of us scuba divers, they sunk all of these wrecks in depths perfect for recreational scuba diving.

The San Pedro started out as a  long line commercial fishing vessel, and later was used as an island to island cargo vessel before finally being sunk in 80 feet of water off the beautiful beaches of Waikiki.  The top deck of the San Pedro sits at roughly 60 feet, with the ships prop down at roughly 80 feet.  Vessel length is approximately 85 feet.  Though largely intact, there are some areas that have started to collapse and show some wear.  As with most wrecks, the metals have been worn down over time and sharp edges and hazardous areas are common.  Caution should be used when entering this wreck.

Common sightings include white tip reef sharks, turtles, eels, and eagle rays.  The San Pedro is the perfect compliment to the YO-257 shipwreck, as it is located roughly 30 yards away.  These dives are commonly done together giving you two shipwrecks in one dive.  Join Reef Pirates Diving for the best wreck diving Oahu has to offer.
