YO-257 Shipwreck
Depth:  70 - 108 Feet / 21 - 32 Meters
Skill Level:
Intermediate / Advanced

The YO-257 shipwreck, like the Seatiger and San Pedro shipwrecks, were sunk by the submarine tour companies during the 90's so they would have something to look at during their underwater tours.  Fortunately for all of us scuba divers, they sunk all of these wrecks in depths perfect for recreational scuba diving.

The YO-257, an old Navy refueling vessel, was sunk upright in 108 feet of water off the beautiful beaches of Waikiki.  The top decks of the YO sit at roughly 70 feet, with the ships bottom at roughly 108 feet.  Vessel length is approximately 160 feet.  As with most wrecks, the metals have been worn down over time and sharp edges and hazardous areas are common.  Caution should be used when entering this wreck.

Common sightings include white tip reef sharks, turtles, eels, and eagle rays.  The YO-257  is the perfect compliment to the San Pedro shipwreck, as it is located roughly 30 yards away.  These dives are commonly done together giving you two shipwrecks in one dive.  Join Reef Pirates Diving for the best wreck diving Oahu has to offer.
